"I have been using Maths-Whizz in my classroom to support my teaching of numeracy for three years now. It is a fantastic online tool which my children and I have really loved using to support their learning of math concepts. What I like about this programme is the individualised programme that it provides for each child as their programmes are set from their diagnostic assessments at the start of year. A positive of this is that your lowest child can be taught at their level and the highest achiever can be extended at their level. This is so helpful from a teacher perspective as it enables you to monitor how children are tracking with activities across the curriculum by checking in with their history. All activities are also related back to all the achievement objects at each level of the curriculum so this ensures wide coverage of the curriculum is exposed to all children. This is significantly important when children are not understanding concepts and I can view how many times they have attempted an exercise and how long it has taken them by going back and reviewing their history. I can then sit with children and give them direct instruction that is relevant and specific to their needs."

"The thing I like the most about Maths-Whizz is that it actually teaches the children. It's not just a practice. It's actually teaching them as they go, and the children can see the progress that they’re making. Another thing I really love is how we can go in and see exactly what the children are doing. We can see if they're making the progressions or not. We can see if they’re spending a lot of time and not making progress, and then we can have one on one learning conversations with them. I also really love in Maths-Whizz that we can set topics for them. So if we're focusing on fractions, we can set the fraction tasks and they have a certain amount of time to get those done. I like seeing the children really enjoy themselves using Maths-Whizz they get lots of little bleeps and dings and certificates. I can send them stickers, there's certificates at the end of every week and certificates every term for those children who are making the progressions. So the children are really motivated to use it as a teaching tool. During Lockdown, we found Maths-Whizz to be a fantastic tool. We could see exactly what the children were doing and they were really motivated to do it. And when parents were busy working from home, the children could be doing something independently where they were learning, and the parents didn't have to be teaching them one on one."

"One thing I really enjoy is that because you're doing a pre-test and an assessment when you go on and use Maths-Whizz either at home or in the class, then that will put it exactly for you. So when the 53 students we currently have every single time they go on it is tailored just for them, which is something that I personally, really, really like, and the students really like, so they don't feel that they're constantly in competition with each other in terms of their learning.
